The You Are Adorned Durag was made in response to a moment. A newspaper article. A stereotype that needed answering.
The answer was simple: make something so beautiful it couldn't be questioned.
Years later the durag has been worn on magazine covers, styled across continents, and carried into spaces it was never supposed to enter. The stereotype didn't survive. The durag did.
You are adorned. Wear it accordingly.
Construction: Every durag begins with fabric — hand wefted crystal material that catches light differently depending on colorway. Each piece is hand cut and hand sewn in our Los Angeles studio. A metal logo sits at the bottom right — the only fixed point on a piece designed to move.
Construction time varies by length. The short takes 2–3 hours. The medium 3–4 hours. The long up to 4 hours. Nothing is rushed. Made to order means your piece doesn't exist until you ask for it.
How to wear it: Traditionally — tied at the back, tail falling down. As a headwrap — wrapped and knotted at the front. As a neck scarf — the long worn loosely around the neck. As an accessory — tied to a bag handle, a wrist, a belt loop.
